Curriculum News

This week, 10/24, our class is working on the following standards

Reading: LAFS.5.RL.2.6, Describe how a narrators or speakers point of view influences how events are described.

We're working with our text, Heart and Soul, and will be continuing to pull out vocabulary words, as well as discussing/understanding point of view and how it effects the story.

Math:

MAFS.5.NBT.2.7,Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals to hundredths, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used.

 
We will be working with lessons 21-25 in Eureka, shifting our focus to decimals and decimal place value up to hundreths.
 
Science:

SC.5.E.7.3, Recognize how air temperature, barometric pressure, humidity, wind speed and direction, and precipitation determine the weather in a particular place and time.

 
In science this week, students will continue our study into weather and the tools we use to determine it. Students will begin daily recordings of our own weather, and identify the tools used to be able to tell the various aspects (I.E. A thermometer was used to tell the temperature)
